Two Tyroleans and their great passion for the sea
Admittedly, when you think of Tyrol, you probably first think of mountains, skiing, and a laid-back mountain lodge experience. We probably wouldn’t have expected that two Tyroleans would eventually lose their heart to the sea, either. 😄
But early on, through diving, we discovered our great passion for the oceans and their fascinating underwater world. What began as a joy in diving became over the years a deep connection with the sea and its inhabitants. We experienced how unique and at the same time vulnerable our oceans are – and eventually a growing desire grew within us to not only travel to the sea again and again, but to one day truly live there.
We didn’t want to experience the sea only for a few weeks a year anymore. We wanted to wake up in the morning and know that it was there. We wanted to live closer to nature, spend more time underwater, and at the same time contribute to protecting the oceans.
This dream didn’t come about overnight. For many years we worked towards it, saving money and dreaming again and again about what our life by the sea might look like.
In May 2026, this dream finally became reality. We left our previous life in Austria behind us, packed our container, and set off – this time without a return ticket.
We currently live in Baja California Sur, Mexico, near La Paz. Further south, near Todos Santos, we have found our very own little paradise in the mountains right on the Pacific Ocean: 35 hectares of pristine wilderness surrounded by mountains, desert, and the endless Pacific Ocean.
Here, our new home is now taking shape. A place that we want to make into our very own personal retreat, step by step and with great heart. And perhaps someday we will also be able to share this special spot with other people and welcome guests to stay on our land. Whether and how this will ever become a reality will be up to the future.
One thing is certain for us anyway: Our greatest adventure has just begun.
If you would like to follow us on this adventure even more closely: on our YouTube channel „Viva Problemas“ We’ll also include you in moving images.

Our four-legged companions in the new life

Hello, we are Nala & Hope!
Two sisters, true Baja girls, and since June 2026 the four-legged addition to the team of Sabine and Romed.
We are a mix of Malinois and Dutch Shepherd dogs – and anyone who knows us knows that: you can tell it.
I am Nala and clearly the category „The Machine“.
Energy? Always available.
Curiosity? Unlimited.
Adventures? Go for it!
Hope sees the whole thing a little more relaxed. She clearly belongs to the „Tranquilo-faction“ and is more of a type: First, observe calmly, analyze the situation, and then decide.
Unfortunately, our start in life was anything but beautiful. We came from a very poor upbringing and ended up in a private animal rescue just six months after we were born.
We had to learn to trust people again.
Fortunately, we had each other.
We are sisters, best friends, and have always been a pretty tight-knit team. Whatever has happened – we have been through it together.
When Sabine and Romed met us at Baja, it was therefore immediately clear to them:
We only have it in a double pack.
One of us alone? Absolutely not an option!
Since June 2026, we are now officially part of the family and are experiencing our new life together in Baja California Sur.
And in the process, we have already learned a lot.
For example, that people aren't actually that bad.
That you can even trust them at some point.
That cuddling is pretty great.
And that it can be enjoyed very comfortably on a cozy blanket.
In short: Life with Sabine and Romed is actually quite casual.
Four of us anyway.
Our favorite place is of course the sea.
There we can go for a swim, play around and do a lot of crazy things. There is always something to discover and especially to sniff out on the beach. Little crabs are especially exciting – even though the crabs are surprisingly fast.
And then there are the mangroves.
For us, it’s something like a huge adventure playground with built-in training in smell detection. After all, there could be something interesting waiting around every corner.
After all, we have plenty of energy, a great dose of curiosity, and of course a good dose of Madness in Mali.
Nevertheless, we are of course the bravest dogs imaginable.
So...
Most of the time.
Okay.
Very often.
Here we take you into our daily lives in Baja California Sur. We will tell you about our adventures, our discoveries, and how we become a little more courageous, self-confident, and relaxed every day.
Because from two young dogs that had to learn to trust people, we have now got two pretty happy Baja girls.
And one thing is certain for us:
We were damn lucky.
Because we have not only found a home.
We were allowed to stay together.
And for us, that is the greatest happiness of all.
