Read more

Read more

Building a house in the wilderness: Part 3

A few days ago, Andrés sent us photos from our construction site. And to be honest: At first, we were quite confused. Because what we saw in the photos was completely different from what we had previously known about home construction. No foundation, no walls – nothing we were used to seeing when building a house. … Read more

The big challenge – with obstacles

The Kaiserschmarrn for Manuela It’s finally here. Our container has found its way to us – and with it, the things we brought from Austria have arrived as well. And of course, my baking supplies. We have already detailed the entire container odyssey in our book „Wir wollten mehr Meer“, so we’ll leave the details for now… Read more

Marcella is the good soul of the market. She makes phenomenal good fish tacos that are always sold out immediately. She chats with everyone, helps wherever she can… Read more

Water on the Baja – why we suddenly think about it all differently

Zwei 10.000-Liter-Wassertanks mit Schutzüberdachung

When we lived in Austria, we never really thought about water. You just turn on the tap. Water comes out. Done. Where it comes from, how it is processed, and the route it took to get to the tap – these are things that don’t really interest us in everyday life. Here in Baja California Sur … Read more

Moving abroad as a couple – when the adventure turns into everyday life

Emigration is not just an organizational challenge. It is also an emotional roller coaster. We have now experienced this not only ourselves, but also received confirmation from many other emigrants. There are periods of great anticipation and euphoria, then again doubts, uncertainty, stress and sometimes even fear. And of course, a couple’s emigration can also be the … Read more

Not courageous, but prepared: Why we knew that Mexico was the right path

When we decided to move to Mexico, it was never about simply leaving everything behind and seeing what would happen. Of course, we knew that a new life in another country would bring challenges with it. A different everyday life, a different language, different rules, and many things that you only have to understand after a while. But Mexico was… Read more

Driving in Mexico – why we are quite relaxed today

When we first got into the car in Mexico, that was one of the things that concerned us the most in advance. How do the intersections work? How do people drive here? What is allowed, what is not? Coming from Austria, where much is signposted, regulated, and predictable, traffic in a new country seems more chaotic and … Read more
